ASE Annual Meeting Family Care Grant

The Family Care Grant Application is Now Closed!

Please contact Lorena Gonzalez at [email protected] with any questions.

Our 2025 Association for Surgical Education (ASE) meeting will feature a robust and diverse program. With that, we want to ensure that all ASE participants have an equitable opportunity to attend the Annual Meeting and communicate new discoveries, form research collaborations, network, and learn from one another.

The Program Committee is excited to continue offering three family care grants available for those attending the 2025 ASE Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA. Grants up to $500 each will be given to selected registered meeting attendees who require caregiving financial support. Eligible applicants are those with children or who provide care for parents or other family members and/or who will incur extra expenses in leaving them at home (e.g., added hours of caregiver services, etc.). If requests exceed the number of grants available, preference will be given to applicants in training and early stages of their careers.

Application Guidelines

  • Grant applications must be received by 2/21/25 to be eligible for consideration.

Allowable Expenses

  • Caregiver expenses in Seattle during meeting week
  • Extra care expenses at home incurred because attendee was participating in the meeting (e.g., overtime at care center, cost of caregiver, etc.)
  • Expenses incurred in bringing in a care provider or family member acting as caregiver to Seattle
  • Travel expenses for the child or family member, limited to reimbursement of airfare/train fare

Meeting attendees’ mileage and travel expenses and tickets to local museums/attractions are not allowed.

Additionally, please note that all registered attendees may take children into all conference sessions if it is not possible to make alternative care arrangements. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and attendees are kindly asked to take them out of sessions if they become disruptive. Children should not be left unaccompanied at any time in the meeting spaces or at any ASE events.

Please note: There will be no ASE-sponsored care services on-site at the ASE meeting in Seattle. ASE does not sanction or recommend care providers, nor does the ASE assume responsibility or liability for care services of any sort. It is the responsibility of the attendee to thoroughly investigate all care providers. Please contact the ASE office for local care resources.
