TOTBV-03: THE ROLE OF STEREO 360° VIRTUAL REALITY IN CLINICAL EXAMINATION
Jos A van der Hage, MD, PhD, Peter Mark Bloemendaal, MD; Leiden University Medical Center

What problem in education is addressed by this work?:
We use Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) forms to assess students’ physical examination skills In this type of assessment two problems arise: 1. Suboptimal student performance due to test anxiety caused by the presence of an examinator during the OSCE and 2. Low level of inter-observer correlation of examinators.

Describe the intervention:
We experiment with a 360° stereo camera (Vuze Camera) instead of the presence of the examinator. This way we hope to reduce students’ test anxiety and because of the registration we are able to double-check the inter observer correlation. of the registration of an OSCE form.

Describe how this intervention could be applied at other institutions. Please specifically comment on identified barriers that could exist and how they could be overcome:
In the out of the box session we will present how we tried to reduce the fear of failure among students, and increase the inter-observer correlation between the examinators of OSCE’s. Furthermore we will discuss the ins and outs of the use of the stereo 360° camera for example: the hard- and software supplies needed, the benefits and drawbacks of 360 recordings for grading and the increased flexibility for examinators.
